How to go to the sea or a manual for the purchased diplomas

The present article is a little bit unusual for me, but I’ll try to handle it. It’s not a secret that many “seafarers” have purchased their diplomas and are eager to conquer the seas and the oceans.

I’m not going neither judge nor accuse the rightness and lawfulness of such diplomas purchasing. It’s not a topic for discussion up to now. We’ll talk about the opportunities of going to the sea for the first time by this means.

It’s important to realize, that rank and file from Ukraine is not so much required there. Why so? There are various reasons: alcohol abuse, violation of labour discipline, ignorance of language etc. As well as trivial – the Philippines are much cheaper than the Ukrainians.

That is all concerning the problem of great difficulty with going to the sea with fake diploma. It’s problematic but not hopeless.

If you want to increase your chances, you should be ready to the following:

1. 1. You should improve your English. The worse your English is, the smaller is your chance to go to the sea.
2. Practice/experience. Not every ship owner is ready to employ a seafarer without any experience, that’s why it’s urgently important to have at least work experience indicated in the papers.
3. Having such diplomas the chance to run into a major ship owner is extremely small, therefore it’s worth to search for the smaller ones.
4. The first voyage you’ll work for a small salary in comparison to the one if you worked for major ship owners. However, some seafarers agree to it. The reason is simple – the real work experience which is easy to be both noticed and checked if necessary.
5. Be ready to lose some money in the process of employment. It’s a first voyage and there are few seafarers who did not have to pay to become one.
6. Ideally if you have a support from the side of a familiar ship Master, chief mate or senior engineer – it can be of great use to get aboard by recommendation.
7. Get ready to refuse from alcohol and work thrice as much as you can.

 

These very actions may increase your chances for the first contract period. And these very actions will allow you to make your career up and account for the higher salary than that specified in your first contact.

But you should keep in mind that on your way during the first employment you will happen to come across the cheaters, who will be ready for money to forge the seniority and promise to employ you without any knowledge of English.

So, study English, keep off from alcohol during voyage, and be ready to work for almost nothing in time of the first and even second contract.

I’ll repeat it again. It goes here about the employment by means of fake purchased diplomas. Though, I’m sure, that we don’t have neither such diplomas nor seafarers here! 🙂
