In autumn 2016 a seafarer applied for legal aid in receiving a compensation due to injury happened aboard M/V MSC Luna F.
The injury appeared to be so serious, that the seafarer had been treating for a pretty long time, and after 8 months only after the treatment he was issued the 3d invalidity group.
Dozens of examinations, surveys, inspections and as a result – today the seafarer has signed a release of waving all claims from the company in exchange of compensation in amount of $ 99 000 US.
I can’t say that the case was easy. Not at all. No-one has expected that the consequences of injury would be so serious, and the company would decide to check so long and thoroughly all the medical documents issued to the seafarer.
Moreover, the company decided to check the seafarer by its doctors at the Kyiv Railway Transport Hospital, and only after the company doctors confirmed the injury heaviness and it’s consequences, the company and its lawyers had nothing to do, but launch our claim settlement process by peaceful means.
Despite the fact that initially the seafarer accounted for the compensation sum of at least about 45-50 thousand dollars US, I managed to increase the sum up to almost 100 000.
As a result, my client is fully satisfied with both my work and its result.
